Star Trek: Voyager cast members are following the lead of Scrubs actors by starting their own re-watch podcast for fans to enjoy.

Zach Braff and Donald Faison launched a new podcast on March 31, 2020. The new show is a podcast where the real-life best friends would reminisce about their time at Sacred Heart hospital as cast members on the NBC/ABC series, Scrubs. Now two other on and off-screen best friends will reunite to and do their own Star Trek: Voyager re-watch podcast. Robert Duncan McNeill, and Garrett Wang, who played Tom Paris and Harry Kim respectively, are starting the Delta Flyers podcast. The name is obviously taken from the ship that McNeill’s Tom Paris built from scrap pieces on board the USS Voyager. The series begins in early May.

The Braff and Faison podcast, called Fake Doctors, Real Friends With Zach + Donald was the duo’s answer to giving back to the medical community during a time of great strain on the entire industry as a whole. New episodes go up every Tuesday for the foreseeable future and have even featured some guest-stars like series creator Bill Lawerence.

It’s likely that Delta Flyers will have the same treatment but what platform it’ll be hosted on is anyone’s guess. Unlike Scrubs, which was a moderate smash hit and is still in syndication this day, Voyager is a niche genre, marketed to a niche audience. For some reason, everyone loves procedural medical dramas even more than procedural police dramas, not so much science fiction.

So for the Scrubs podcast to end up on I Heart Radio, that makes sense. Will there be enough interest in Delta Flyers that someone like I Heart Radio picks it up? If not, the series could easily just be posted by the duo to iTunes or Spotify, that’s always an option.

The future of the Delta Flyers is going to be interesting and all Trek fans will be interested to see how this podcast turns out.
