Thursday afternoon
Following the major Star Trek panels, there will be a series of smaller panels as well that focus on other things that fans may want to know more about. T
The first one is the ladies of Starfleet panel. That panel will feature Una McCormack (author of Picard: The Last Best Hope), Swapna Krishna (space, tech, and pop culture journalist), author Cassandra Rose Clarke, LJ Jackson (publicity manager at Saga Press), and moderator Kendra James, but none of the actual women they’ll be talking about. While a cameo is always possible it’s not being advertised.

As for the last panel on Thursday, Trekkies will get a fun conversation about the science of Star Trek. This panel is advertising every “titled science advisor” since 1991, who has ever worked on a Star Trek show. Names include scientists-turned-writers Naren Shankar, advising seasons five and six of Star Trek: The Next Generation (now showrunner/executive producer on The Expanse), André Bormanis and his 19 total Trek seasons after that (now co-executive producer, The Orville), and Dr. Erin Macdonald (all six current Star Trek series shooting/in development).

And now, every titled science advisor for the Trek TV series since 1991 (season five of Star Trek: The Next Generation) joins “Dr. Trek” Larry Nemecek (Portal 47) to examine that legacy today: Has the old science-vs.-story tension evolved with savvier audiences?
