Certifiably Ingame has come back with a big video that any fan of Star Trek: Voyager should want to watch. While it’s pretty obvious if you’ve seen any episode of Star Trek: Voyager, you know that the main cast wasn’t the original crew, at least not all of them. Save for Kathryn Janeway and Harry Kim, none of the main cast the audience met in the first episode was an acting member of the crew.

Sure, Tuvok was undercover but that was it. The rest of the main cast weren’t crew members; yet. No, the crew members of the Voyager were made up of a bunch of extras and bit players. And veteran actress Alicia Coppola.

Many seem to forget that most of the main cast got their roles in canon due to the deaths of so many of Voyager’s high-ranking officers after the Caretaker beamed the ship into the Delta Quadrant.

Yet, who were these crew members who didn’t make it out of the pilot? Certifiably Ingame has you covered.

The video is a great deep dive into the history of the lesser-known crew members. The decision to kill off so many of those characters so fast was needed to set up the merging of the two ship’s crew, as the Voyager was pulled across the universe with a Maquis vessel in tow. Because of this, we had the coupling of two crews for one common cause; get home.

Because of this, we don’t get to really know who these modern-day redshirts really are. Certifiably Ingame helps resolve that.

While it isn’t the most fascinating deep dive ever, as there’s no big shocker revealed in the video, it does a solid job of helping you figure out who’s who and why they matter. It’s a great video for any Star Trek: Voyager fan, even if you think you already know everything.
