Star Trek: Voyager could’ve ended few different ways.

As we look back at the 20th anniversary of Star Trek: Voyager’s finale, we’re stuck wondering what could’ve happened with a few key changes. The show ended with the crew returning back to Earth decades later, only for an older Janeway to time travel to help the crew in the present return home.

It was a bit of a messy ending, even though it solved the answer of how to get everyone home. It wasn’t the best ending but it did cap off a great series. Yet, there were a few ways the show was going to end and they all would’ve been interesting to see play out, if not better than what we got.

So with that, let’s take a look at the other ways the show could’ve ended.

Seven of Nine’s death

In the finale of the series, we do find out that Seven of Nine died on the voyage home, which is part of the reason why Admiral Janeway wanted to go back in time and fix the events of the journey’s conclusion. The difference was this time, Seven of Nine would stay dead. Voyager producer and writer Brannon Braga told TrekCore.com in 2013;

"I think Seven of Nine should have bit the dust. I think there had to be a real sacrifice for this crew getting home; a real blood sacrifice. Seven of Nine was, for me, designed to be a character that was gonna die tragically. I planned that."

Except Rick Berman shut down Braga’s idea. It may have had something to do with Brag dating the actress who played Seven of Nine, Jeri Ryan at the time
