The cast for Star Trek: Prodigy includes names like Ella Purnell, Jason Mantzoukas, and more!

The cast for Star Trek: Prodigy has been unveiled by Star Trek.com and includes some pretty big names in the world of acting and comedy. The biggest, besides Kate Mulgrew who was already announced, are Ella Purnell, Jason Mantzoukas, and Dee Bradley Baker.

Purnell just got a huge break with Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead film, in which she plays the daughter of wrestler-turned-actor Dave Bautista. Fans of The League will recognize Jason Mantzoukas as Rafi, but if the FX series wasn’t your thing, you might also recognize him from Parks and Recreation, Duck Tails, and Close Enough.

Baker is one of the more well-known voices in the world of animation and voice work, famously portraying Olmec in The Legends of the Hidden Temple game show on Nickelodeon and going on to play hundreds of voices in all of your favorite properties.

The rest of the cast includes Ryle Alazraqui from Doug Unplugs, Brett Gray from When They See Us, and Angus Imrie from The Crown.

"Rylee Alazraqui (“Doug Unplugs,” “Home Economics”) as “Rok-Tahk,” a Brikar and an unusually bright eight-year-old girl. Rok is a bit shy, but not when it comes to her love for animals.Brett Gray (“On My Block,” “When They See Us”) as “Dal,” 17 years old and an unknown species, he fancies himself a maverick, who even in the toughest times, holds strong onto his unwavering hope.Angus Imrie (“The Crown,” “Emma”) as “Zero,” who is a Medusan: a noncorporeal, genderless, energy-based lifeform. Since others would go mad at the sight of their true self, Zero wears a containment suit they made themselves to protect others.Jason Mantzoukas (“Infinite,” “Big Mouth”) as “Jankom Pog,” a 16-year-old Tellarite. Tellarites are known to relish an argument, and Jankom is no different. Regardless of opinion, he will always play ‘devil’s advocate’ for the sake of hearing all sides.Ella Purnell (“Army of the Dead,” “Sweetbitter”) as “Gwyn,” a 17-year-old Vau N’Akat who was raised on her father’s bleak mining planet and grew up dreaming to explore the stars.Dee Bradley Baker (“SpongeBob SquarePants,” “Dora the Explorer”) as “Murf,” whose age and species is unknown but who is an endearing, indestructible blob with curiously good timing and an insatiable appetite for ship parts."

The cast has some surprising names.

There’s no doubt the cast has some incredible names attached. Since this is going first to Parmaount+ and then later to Nickelodeon, it wasn’t that surprising to see some of the names attached to the series.

Getting Ella Purnell though at a pivotal point in her career is a big get. Purnell is on the brink of blowing up into a major star and having her attached to Star Trek: Prodigy will only help elevate the product as the series continues on.

Throw in Star Trek: Voyager alumni Kate Mulgrew, who will be playing a hologram version of Captain Kathryn Janeway, and you have yourself one heck of a cast.
