LeVar Burton has been immortalized in a new song.

Some people like Star Trek, some people love Star Trek and then there’s Pierce Freelon, who is inspired by Star Trek. In his most recent album, Black to the Future, Freelon dedicates an entire song to Star Trek: The Next Generation’s LeVar Burton. Burton of course played Geordi La Forge on The Next Generation and it’s subsequent movies.

The album is described as “family friendly” by DailyTrekNews.com, and is described as having elements of hip-hop, funk, soul, and more to round out a unique sound. The song that pays tribute to La Forge/Burton is called “LeVar Burton”. It’s a song that details the impact of Burton’s career in the entertainment industry from his time on Reading Rainbow and all the way through Star Trek.

The album can be found on  Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music.

Black to the Future following in some familiar footsteps.

Black to the Future isn’t the only Star Trek inspired music to be created this year, as there’s a punk band that started making music that pays direct homage to the Star Trek franchise as a whole. They’re called Boldy Go! and unlike Black to the Future who focused on the contributions of LeVar Burton, Boldy Go! focuses more on the series as a whole.

The styles are different but the love is the same. These are two very impressive albums that you should give a try.

Next. Jonny Quest was almost Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation. dark
