Jonathan Frakes took his talents to the world of PUBG and video games.
Jonathan Frakes got to flex his “hosting” skills once again for a PUBG video game commercial, shot in the same manner as Frakes’ old Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction series. For those who need a refresher, Beyond Belief was a television show where Frakes would tell the viewers stories of mysterious events, played alongside reenactments. At the end, Frakes would present a question, was it a real story or fake?
It’s become a popular meme of sorts and fans have fond memories of Frakes talking about the spooky and macabre. It’s still an iconic piece of television, like Unsolved Mysteries before it, and got a lot of fans into the supernatural and the like.
So it isn’t surprising that the makers of the immensely popular video game, PUBG would bring in Frakes for a commercial that apparently talks about the games background and story.
What is PUBG?
For those unaware, PUBG is an acronym for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. It takes the concept of Battle Royale, The Hunger Games, and other pieces of fiction and combines them into a massive online experience. The players are given control over a character and are dropped into a battle against one another where there can only be one survivor. The game has dozens of players competing at the same time and will reduce the size of the map as the match continues as a way to expedite the action.
It became incredibly popular a few years ago almost by accident and the game then set up and helped Fortnite achieve even greater heights but to many, PUBG was the first game they played that brought them into the world of battle royale action.
The series has since been lapped by Fortnite, but these type of viral engagements is a nice way to get back some of their player bases.
