TrekCulture reminds fans just how dangerous space is.

Now, this is a subjective list by TrekCulture so maybe you won’t agree with some of the picks on here. That’s ok. What was a big take away though was just how horrifying some of the weaponry Star Trek actually is. The franchise is known for its crazy alien races and the bizarre things that each alien race brings with them.

Some of these things are weapons and while none on this list are as overtly intimidating as say Star Wars’ Death Star or a Xenomorph egg-pod, Star Trek has done a fine job making you respect each and every alien race, no matter how funky looking they may be.

It’s not just the Klingons or Cardassians that seem to have a unique ability to hurt or fight somebody. This video does a great job of highlighting some of the most truly revolting races by looking at the weapons they use.

It’s very easy to forget about the Vidiians in Star Trek

It’s easy to forget that the Vidiians in Star Trek are horrifying. I’ve jokingly referred to the Borg as “space-zombies” because of their slow, yet unrelenting pace in which they seek to consume you but the Vidiians are a different kind of space-zombie. They look more like zombies, with their rotting carcasses and need of flesh.

Their physical appearance is already traumatizing enough but for an added layer of fear, they have a handheld, organ-transporter phaser.  Remember that? They used it to nearly kill Neelix by stealing his lungs from him.

On another occasion, they kill the entire Voyager crew except for Harry Kim and a baby Naomi Wildman. They’re not viewed as a superior alien race, or have any physical qualities that would put them on the par of Klingons or the Borg even, but their desperation and lack of remorse make them truly terrifying.
