Seth MacFarlane is letting everyone know who he supports for the next host of Jeopardy!

Seth MacFarlane wants you to know who he wants as the host of Jeopardy! The original new host of Jeopardy! lasted about six seconds before the Cancel Culture swarm came for him. We’re not going to debate or put our opinion down on whether or not the most recent host of the series, Mike Richards, deserved to lose his spot. He resigned of his own volition but did so after immense public pressure.

He resigned due to inflammatory comments made on an old podcast, which caused everyone to return to the debate about who would be the next host of the long-running trivia show. The show already has a host, albeit a par-time one in Mayim Bialik of Blossom and The Big Bang Theory fame. She’s their special-attraction host, doing guest spots for special prime time events.

While shifting her over to the full-time host makes sense, as she already has the job (more or less), one other name is again returning to the lips of fans. One name that makes sense to everyone, including Star Trek superfan, MacFarlane. That name is, of course, LeVar Burton.

Seth MacFarlane is right, just hire LeVar Burton!

Jeopardy! botched the job search. They simply did. Beyond Richards’ comments, they had all of these guest hosts come out, gain fan support and then went with a guy no one had ever heard of. Brilliant.

Well, this is their chance to right that wrong. MacFarlane is on board. Heck, most of the fandom is on board. There isn’t one person that really would have an issue with LeVar Burton doing the hosting duties, so why not give him the gig? He’s certainly talented, and he’s very intelligent.

More so, it fits the vibe that former host Alex Trebeck brought to the table. As described by New York Times writer Christopher Golden (via his Twitter account), Burton fits because he’s the kind of guy we want to cheer for.

"We want LeVar Burton to host Jeopardy for the same reason we venerate Bob Ross and Mr. Rogers, and the same reason the show Ted Lasso is so popular. Our culture yearns for, and desperately needs, men who are kind and gentle, and who will teach that by example."

He’s right too. There’s a reason why men like Bob Ross have a Twitch and Pluto TV channel dedicated to him painting. He’s calming, and quiet, he’s warm and welcoming. Mr. Rogers taught us all how to be kind people, how to show people compassion.

Burton is the same kind of man. A man who taught children everywhere the value of patience,  and kindness through the joys of reading. He’s the perfect fit for the role.

He deserves the gig. Give it to him, what are you waiting for?
