The George Takei and William Shatner feud continues beyond Star Trek

It may have started on Star Trek over 50 years ago but the George Takei and William Shatner feud seem like it won’t ever end. Even in death, the two men are likely to be squabbling over who has the better view of the afterlife. It seems to have all started because Takei wasn’t happy with the way Shatner behaved on the set of the original Star Trek.

Fair, you’re allowed to dislike how someone behaves. The problem, however, is that all these years later and the two are still bickering with one another. It was relatively quiet for a long time but ramped up once again after Shatner took a flight to the edge of space and returned.

He was met with cheers and admiration from most of the world and Twitter was abuzz with his accomplishment of being the oldest man into space. Everyone but Takei who made fat jokes about Shatner.

Shatner, however, isn’t staying quiet, however.

William Shatner counters George Takei keeping alive a pointless feud

While you have to chuckle at how mundane Shatner’s dig was and unbothered he appears but the feud between these two men is largely about ego and not at all to do with anything worth fighting over.

Sometimes certain personalities just bother you, obviously, that’s going to happen but you’d think two men at the late stages of their life would care more about reminiscing and remembering their beloved and departed crewmates over brunch than taking cheap digs at one another.

Shatner’s dig may not be nearly as lowbrow as Takei’s but the two should be leading by example and burying the hatchet. Half of the main cast is gone, and Nichelle Nichols is suffering from dementia. The only three that are still healthy and with us are Shatner, Takei, and Walter Koening.

They could be ambassadors, traveling together and giving fans amazing Q & A’s but instead they’re arguing like teenagers in middle school. It’s rather sad.

That said, Shatner had the better dig.
