Star Trek: Prodigy continues to deliver on entertainment

“Starstruck,” the third episode of the first season of Star Trek: Prodigy had the ragtag crew of the Protostar running free in the galaxy without knowing where they were going or what they were doing. Of course the crew needed help, and Captain Kathryn Janeway’s hologram was right there to provide the assistance they needed to keep themselves safe.

Though only less than twenty-four minutes in run time, “Starstruck” packed a lot of new information and adventure into this one episode and brought us a little closer to seeing how this crew is going to work.

#3 Moment from Star Trek: Prodigy “Starstruck”—Dal realizes it’s okay to ask for help

The teen was determined to be the captain of the ship, but he was clearly way out of his depth. Once Captain Janeway showed up and set things to right, he decided that it wasn’t so bad to ask for help, after all.

#2 Moment from Star Trek: Prodigy “Starstruck”—Captain Janeway guides the crew to safety

This was an exceptional moment in that when Captain Janeway returned to the bridge of the Protostar when the team knew they needed help, she didn’t automatically start barking orders. She was there as a guide and let the crew find their own way. In addition, she effectively admonished Dal’s impetuousness without coming down on him like she would have one of her own crew members if they’d been so foolhardy.

#1 Moment from Star Trek: Prodigy “Starstruck”—Captain Janeway teachers the crew about the Federation

We knew before this series debuted that it was going to help kids and those new to Star Trek learn about all things Trek, including the Federation and Starfleet. In “Starstruck,” when Janeway starts talking to the crew about what’s out there, they’re all fascinated, but they don’t understand what it all means. So Janeway goes into a wonderful explanation of the Federation that was both easy to understand and magnetizing.

“Starstruck” was another great episode in the series and has me looking forward to next week!
