Star Trek fan shows love for the franchise with the Borg cube

Star Trek fans are some of the best in the world when it comes to creative ways to show their love for the 55-year-old franchise. From those who become a character like Jens Dombek who has become the German Spock and others whose talent enables them to draw or paint incredible portraits and scenes from the series, there are so many ways this fandom gets highlighted every day. One particular highlight comes from Reddit user and fan, u/TheNerdyOne_ a/k/a ky-ebricks.

Ky-e bricks creates digital Lego builds as a way of showing others that a Lego hobby doesn’t have to be expensive. And to prove it, this creator built an amazing digital Borg cube out of 9,280 pieces and that measures just under 16 inches in all directions. When sharing the images on Reddit, Ky-e bricks wrote “The Borg Sphere includes a launching mechanism, which was fun to design. The micro Enterprise-E just attaches to the side, but it is built to-scale with the cube itself.”

The Borg cube was a massive undertaking for this Star Trek fan

According to the description posted on Ky-e Bricks’ Instagram page, this model “has been in progress since July. It was intended to be completed for Star Trek’s anniversary back in September, but I clearly underestimated how much work it would take. But it’s done now! My UCS-scale Borg Cube, complete with launch-able Borg Sphere and to-scale Enterprise-E. More renders to come.”

The dedication to detail in this piece shows the true talent of this designer as do the other images posted to Instagram, including a Springfield Class Frigate, a Luna-class Reconnaissance vessel from Star Trek: Lower Decks,  and the Freedom-class Light Frigate from Star Trek: The Next Generation’s “The Best of Both Worlds.”  There are also plenty of designs from other fandoms, including Star Wars, Metroid, and Halo.
