What Star Trek video games do we think you’ll enjoy?

The world of Star Trek has had some really interesting video games created over the years. Some fantastic, some buggy but wonderful, and others just pure bad. With the news that a new Star Trek game was coming out in 2022, we figured we’d look back at some of the games that came before it.

Games that really encapsulate what it meant to be in the world of Trek are shockingly common but also hard to get just right. They’re a mixed bag of good and bad, with some getting close to that euphoric Trek experience but none that seemingly get it perfect.

So if you’re looking at diving into a Trek game, we think these three may be just what you’re looking for; depending on what you’re looking for.

Three Star Trek video games we think you’ll enjoy

Star Trek: Voyager – Elite Force

One of the few games made for the Voyager franchise also happens to be arguably the best game ever made in Trek history. You take control of an elite unit aboard Voyager, tasked with defeating the Borg. It’s a first-person shooter, and while it’s far more action-heavy than a Trek game may be for some, if Trek and shooters are your things; this is the game for you.

Star Trek: The Next Generation – A Final Unity

This is more in the vein of what Star Trek fans may expect from a game. It puts you in command of members of the U.S.S. Enterprise-D, with real voice work from the cast and crew of The Next Generation. The game has some length to it and features a multitude of chapters for fans to dive into and explore.

Star Trek: Online

For more modern gamers, you can’t do much better than this one, especially if you’re a fan of the MMO genre of video games. You can take command of a Starfleet’s best ships, create your character and interact with characters from the franchise, brought to life in video game format. The online aspect of the game allows a new major chapter for fans to play every few months, keeping the game fresh for new and old users alike.
