Star Trek icon William Shatner has received a massive honor.

William Shatner can’t do much wrong at the moment. From making a movie about aging at the age of 90, to being a forward-thinker about things like social media and other things like cryptocurrency and NFT’s, it’s amazing to see someone defy the convention of aging as Shatner has. The Star Trek legend isn’t done yet, however, as he’s apparently receiving a huge honor for his space flight this fall.

According to the New York Times, Shatner, along with Jeff Bezos, Richard Branson, and 21 other people will receive the F.A.A. Commerical Space Astronaut Wings. This is in part due to his journey on board the Blue Origins’ NS-18. A trip he took alongside several others.

According to Daily Star Trek, the first set of wings was awarded to Mike Melvill, a test pilot of the Scaled Composites SpaceShipOne plane in 2005. Apparently, the tradition of giving wings to non-pilots started when Bezos flew to the limit that marks the start of space. Since then, all who hit that mark will end up earning them, until the end of this year.

After this year, the F.A.A. will stop issuing wings to those who hit that mark.

William Shatner continues to be a modern marvel

Sure some people will take digs at his hair, his weight, his age, or the allegations of plastic surgery but the fact is the man is 90-years-old and looks 65. Not only that, but he’s spry, insightful, and able to go to space.

There’s really nothing he hasn’t been able to do at any age of his life. I’m in awe of what he’s able to accomplish at his age. The more and more we move forward, the more we realize that age is just a number. If we take care of ourselves and continue to work on ourselves, we aren’t going to be limited by time.

Shatner is living proof of that.
