Star Trek, Playmates, and John de Lancie as Q launch a new toy-centric website.

Star Trek and Playmates have gotten back together after nearly 20 years apart. The two were hugely connected in the 90s, launching line after line of action figures and other toys based on Star Trek’s The Next Generation, Voyager, and Deep Space Nine. That all stopped in 2001, however, when Enterprise launched. Now, after a 20-year break of regularly updating their collections, Playmates is back in the game and has tagged John de Lancie as Q to help them out.

de Lancie’s Q helped launch the new Playmates and Star Trek website, where fans can go to and check out all the latest releases for the Star Trek action figure line and other toy memorabilia. It’s a website for kids and collectors alike, as it’ll serve as the central hub for all things new.

Launching a Star Trek-brand website was a good idea by Playmates.

While Playmates came back into the fold for the 2009 release of the Star Trek reboot, the franchise has long been an afterthought for Playmates until 2021, when that all changed. Now in 2022, we know that characters from Trek films, Discovery, The Next Generation, and Prodigy will all be released. The entire cast of Prodigy is getting figures, as are Wrath of Khan’s James T. Kirk, Spock, and Khan Noonien Singh. The Next Generation will have Jean-Luc Picard, Data, and William Riker, while Discovery will see Michael Burnham and Saru.

As you explore the website, Q will taunt and delight you with his whimsical charm, helping give you a real Trek experience.

While retailers like Target and Walmart are likely to carry the entire line of action figures and toys, the creation of the centralized hub will help fans know where and when to purchase the toys.

With the future of toy-centric stores being a thing of the past, unfortunately, this was the right move and one that will likely pay off in the end.
