It sure sounds like Seven of Nine may be 86’ed in Picard season 3

Is this the end of Jeri Ryan and Seven of Nine in the Star Trek universe?

Star Trek: Picard will see Star Trek: The Next Generation cast gets one final send-off. The cast will say goodbye one more time from the franchise, this time through the Picard series. It’s going to be a very interesting final season, as Picard has been a very maligned series. One other Trek-classic character may also say goodbye for the last time, and that’s Seven of Nine, played by Jeri Ryan.

Ryan joined the Picard series despite being a member of the Voyager series, and not The Next Generation series. Her addition has been mixed by fans, many of whom have taken issue with the darker nature of not just the show but the character as well.

She did an interview in the pages of the relaunched Star Trek explorer Magazine (via TrekMovie.com) where Ryan talked about saying goodbye to Seven after Picard’s third season.

"This was so surprising, to get the opportunity to revisit this character on Picard. That is not something that I ever envisioned. It’s been really a treat to be able to do that and to continue her journey and to see her through all of this growth for these three seasons. So, yeah, it’ll be bittersweet to say goodbye to her again."

Yet, when asked about Seven’s involvement in the third season in an interview with ComicBook.com, Ryan seemed to imply that her time with the series may not be as long as some would think.

"Yes, you’ll see Seven again, I can tell you that. I think the fans will not be disappointed. The season is huge, and it is a very worthy sendoff for all of these characters."

That sure seems to suggest Seven of Nine won’t have a long run with the third season.

Star Trek: Picard has a history of killing off characters, is Seven of Nine next?

Just off the top of my head, Data, Dajh Asha, Bruce Maddox, Hugh, Elnor and Icheb have all bit the dust at some point on Picard. The idea that Seven of Nine could be killed off, especially with Picard being a three-season build-up to the return of The Borg, really seems likely.

Likely, not guaranteed. There’s no official word that Seven of Nine would be killed off and if she were, what a terrible way to end her arc. Especially, after what she did to reclaim her humanity from the Borg.

Yet, her vague mention of her involvement in season three really does seem to suggest a short run with the series last season. Only time will tell, however.
