Most of Star Trek: Picard’s cast is not returning for season 3
By Chad Porto
Star Trek: Picard is going full tilt with The Next Generation crew in season three.
Star Trek: Picard is losing at least three if not four major names heading into its final season. We already talked about how Allison Pill will not be reprising her role as Dr. Agnes Jurati in season three, but now it’s become very clear she’s not the only long-tenured member of the cast to not return.
Joining Pill as talents who have finished up with the series are Santiago Cabrera who played Cris Rios, as well as Evan Evagora who played Elnor. The three of them are unofficially/officially done with the show, with all three announcing on their own that they aren’t attached to the third season.
Another name that may be done with the show is Isa Briones, who played various characters throughout the show’s two seasons but saw a massive reduction in screen time in season two compared to the first season. With Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, LeVar Burton, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis, Brent Spiner, and Patrick Stewart all coming back for a reunion of sorts, it would make sense that the newer characters would be severely unwritten if they’re brought back at all.
Jeri Ryan is returning as Seven of Nine for season three but may not last long
Season three of Star Trek: Picard is already in the can, so it probably won’t be long until we get some sort of real trailer for the season. That’ll give us an idea of what’s happening long-term with some of the newer characters.
When asked about her involvement in the series last season, Jeri Ryan did say she was involved, but the way she said it has had some, myself included if she was destined for a short stint of sorts on the show.
"Yes, you’ll see Seven again, I can tell you that."
Seems pretty vague, personally. It seems like the series is ramping up to move on from all the new and non-Next Generation characters.
