Star Trek: Picard is done next season but Marina Sirtis may not be.

Marina Sirtis will return to the world of Star Trek once again with next year’s third season of Star Trek: Picard. The long-time Trek vet spent all seven seasons as part of Star Trek: The Next Generation before appearing alongside the rest of the crew for the four TNG-Era films.

After Star Trek: Nemesis ended, which was a rough way to go out, Sirtis was resigned to believing that was it for that era of the franchise. She and other The Next Generation alums returned for the first two seasons of Star Trek: Picard and will once again reprise her role as Deanna Troi for the last season of Picard.

Speaking to Red Carpet News TV, when asked about her involvement post-Picard, Sirtis didn’t seem to be sold on retiring from her role as Troi, saying;

"Never say never, right? I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future… There are so many Star Trek shows on right now. I can’t imagine that if this is really successful, that maybe some of the more successful characters might have a spin off. I don’t know. That’s kind of the way Hollywood works, isn’t it?"

Marina Sirtis has other Star Trek options to cameo on going forward

The two series that are close enough to the events of The Next Generation and Picard, which are actively airing, are Lower Decks and Prodigy. Both of whom are known for their cameos. Prodigy has already had Gates McFadden (Beverly Crusher) on in a cameo role, while Lower Decks has brought in Robert Duncan McNeil (Tom Paris) and John de Lancie (Q) in minor cameos.

So it’s not like there aren’t other shows to explore with Trek characters. While there remain talks of a Jeri Ryan led-spinoff, the fact is most fans don’t seem that enthused about it, as well as other concepts the Ceti Alpha V mini-series and the controversial Section 31 spin-off idea, being kicked around, it may make more sense to focus on what you have if your Sirtis.

That means doing animated cameos for a while.
