Star Trek: Picard will bring back another Star Trek character
Star Trek: Picard will conclude its three season run next year.
Star Trek: Picard will host the main characters of Star Trek: The Next Generation when it wraps up next year. Jonathan Frakes, LeVar Burton, Gates McFadden, Michael Dorn, Brent Spiner, and Marina Sirtis will appear in the series’ final season with all, with the exception of Spiner, reprising their roles from their time on The Next Generation. But, according to executive producer, Terry Matalas, who appeared on the Inglorius Treksperts podcast [via Trekmovie], there are some other characters coming back that aren’t part of TNG’s main cast. They may not even be part of TNG at all.
But there is one character in particular that Matalas is extremely excited about as he really wanted this character, who was in The Next Generation, to return. As for who it is, that’s not something Matalas reveals. All he says is that he was weirdly more thrilled about this character’s return than “everything else in totality.”
"“And funny enough, there are moments that are–because there are some people who come back from Star Trek in this season that aren’t just the Next Gen cast. There’s one character who is in Next Gen who I was like, “I really want this character to come back.” And when they did, that was weirdly more thrilling than everything else in totality.”"
Star Trek: Picard will open its doors to more Star Trek characters next season.
So we’re looking at more Star Trek characters that may or may not be a part of The Next Generation, and there are too many of those to choose from, and one actor that definitely was in the series but wasn’t part of the main cast. That opens up several possibilities, too, but I’ve narrowed my choices to three.
Could it be Dwight Schultz who played the nervous but likeable Reginald Barclay? Or James Cromwell who has had several appearances in Star Trek but was mostly known as Zefram Cochrane from Star Trek: First Contact? Or Kate Mulgrew who has already appeared with Patrick Stewart in Star Trek: Nemesis? It would definitely be interesting to see those two admirals together.
Whatever character is returning, with Matalas saying it was more thrilling than everything else, it has to be someone that really made an impact on Star Trek: The Next Generation or someone who will make such an impact on Star Trek: Picard.
So who do you think is the other character that will be appearing in Star Trek: Picard?
