TrekMovie brought up some interesting names they’d like to see appear on Star Trek: Picard.
We like TrekMovie.com on this site, though we don’t always agree with them. With rumors of a surprising name returning to Star Trek with Star Trek: Picard’s final season, TrekMovie did something similar to what we did and created a list of characters they’d like to see pop up on the show.
They created a list of 17 characters that they may want to see on Picard for a variety of reasons. We encourage you to check the list out for the whole list of characters, but there are a few we want to touch on that we don’t see coming back.
The first is Ro Laren, who was supposed to be one of the stars of Deep Space Nine but her actress, Michelle Forbes, didn’t want to commit to the series. Her character arc made sense during the Bajoran conflict with the Cardassians but now in a post-conflict era, Laren doesn’t really work anymore.
Another one is Lt. Commander Shelby, who would’ve been perfect for the first season or two of Picard, where the Borg were a major factor but now that they’re not she just doesn’t have the same pop. There are three, however, that still makes the most sense.
Three characters we’d like to see from TrekMovie’s list in Picard
Lt Reginald Barclay
I loved Reginald Barclay. Not so much on The Next Generation, but he was funny enough in First Contact but it was Voyager where he really started to emerge as a really interesting character. I think seeing more of him in Picard, especially fully emerging from his neurosis (or further in them) would be a huge addition to his character and the show as a whole.
Dr. Kate Pulaski
Now, this one may be trickier as the actress Diana Muldaur hasn’t really been acting in recent years and is 83 years old. With no idea what kind of shape she is in, it may not be feasible to bring her into the show. If Mulder is open to rejoining the universe, Dr. Kate Pulaski would be an interesting addition.
Thomas Riker
Lastly, we have Thomas Riker who seems the least likely. Not because the character doesn’t make sense, as he totally does. The entire season can be a revenge plot of some sort. But that the character in question was insinuated to be a returning actor or actress. We know that Riker’s actor, Jonathan Frakes is already on the show, as he’s returning as the iconic Will Riker. So it doesn’t seem like the most likely possibility but there’s always a chance the interview was worded the way it was to avoid revealing the character ahead of time.
