Star Trek caters to all ages now more than ever. They have a variety of shows for a variety of fans and while the quality may differ from fan to fan, there is a variety. This isn’t a bad thing, even if some of the shows haven’t landed as the franchise had hoped.

One of the things this wide arrange of shows has allowed them to do is cater more to younger fans while not jeopardizing the experience for older, longer-tenured fans. They’ve done this in the family-centric series Star Trek: Prodigy, the second of two animated shows currently airing.

While Star Trek has, mostly, been open for most ages to digest that hasn’t always been the case, and the series was never made with younger fans in mind. Prodigy is, and that’s why it’s so great to see them catering to younger fans finally.

Right now on Star Trek’s official website, you can download a free coloring book to do with as you will.

Star Trek: Prodigy would do well to do more free-to-enjoy ideas

One of the best things about being a kid was all the fun stuff that came with our favorite franchises. We’re talking free comics and video games in cereal boxes, toys that came with extra parts so you can build a new toy if you bought the entire series.

Free events that kids got into for free, meet and greets, and all that goodness. To really get fans into Star Trek: Prodigy, especially younger ones, they have to go further into the market of free items for kids to enjoy.

The more free things younger fans can enjoy, the more likely they will be to give the show a chance.

If the show succeeds, then the franchise succeeds and the key to Prodigy succeeding is catering to the younger fan base.
