Star Trek: Strange New Worlds intend on giving a major moment significance

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will give a major moment emphasis.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has brought a lot of fans back into Star Trek. It’s a hugely popular series, that has reached beyond the limitations and bases that shows like Lower Decks, Picard and Discovery cater to. It really feels like an actual predecessor to the original Trek series of the 1960s.
Sure, it doesn’t look anything like it, the franchise is 60 years old, so changes were bound to happen, but the characters feel so much like the original series that fans are looking past that. Everyone from Anson Mount’s Captain Pike to Ethan Peck’s Spock and even newcomer Jess Bush’s Nurse Chapel has been getting rave reviews.
Sure, Chapel is a bit more intense than she was originally, but her core character is still there. That type of dedication is part of the reason the older, die-hard Trek fans love the show as much as they do. It’s their Trek, just fancier. The new fans love it because it’s stylistic and thought-provoking.
That’s why the idea of seeing the first meeting between Spock and James Kirk is so enticing.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ will make Spock and Kirk’s meeting a big moment
Few friendships in the history of entertainment have ever been as impressive as Kirk and Spock. While the series did an alright job of highlighting this, what really drove the dynamic was the films. Especially the second and third ones. You truly got a sense of who they are as men and who they were as friends.
That’s why co-showrunner Henry Alonso Myers wants to nail the moment they first meet. Myers told TV Line;
"We think about it every day. In the moment, when they finally meet, we absolutely make a big moment of it and hope people will enjoy what we come up with."
Knowing that Myers is aware of how important nailing the friendship is should give fans hope that they’ll nail it when given the chance. With how good Strange New Worlds has been, we should all be hopeful about what’s to come.
