What is the most important moment in Starfleet history?
By Chad Porto
Starfleet has had many great moments but what is the most important?
The fine folks at GameRant decided to do an article recently talking about the most important moments in Starfleet history. It’s a good read and an article I suggest you check out before or after you’re done reading this piece. The article they wrote about didn’t really hit home at one moment, but a few of them.
Which had me thinking, “Ok, but which one is the moment?”
What moment in Starfleet history is the most instrumental and important? The one that defines the entire organization, and set it up for future success? There are a lot of potential moments. The Battle of Sector 001, the Khitomer Accords which brought an end to Klingon hostilities, the Dominion War, which crippled several superpowers and established The Federation as the outfit in the Alpha Quadrant are all worthy.
Yet, you can’t have any of them without this one moment.
The most important moment in the Federation’s history was its very own creation.
The creation of Starfleet is the greatest moment in its history
Starfleet creation, which happened before the events of Star Trek: Enterprise, was the catalyst for all things that came after. Without Starfleet, there would be no voyages into the final frontier. There’d be no ship-to-ship combat, no Vulcan logic, and certainly no Quark’s bar.
Without Starfleet, this whole pony ride that we call Star Trek can’t even happen. There’d be no Federation of Planets, no Klingon war, no Dominion War, and no Nog being wholesome.
It may not be the most talked about era of Star Trek, nor is it the most visited or exciting, but the birth of Starfleet basically ensured that every series, captain, and adventure that has ever happened was able to happen. It is the most important moment because it’s the moment that allowed every other moment to exist.
