Marina Sirtis, known for playing Counselor Troi on Star Trek: The Next Generation, has left Twitter.

Once a very active user on Twitter, Marina Sirtis, made the decision to leave the popular social media platform on October 28, 2022. [via We Got This Covered] Sirtis said she would hang around for a couple more days to say goodbye, but that she was gone after that. A search of her handle on Twitter shows that the account no longer exists, indicating Sirtis really has departed the platform.

This comes as a disappointment to many Star Trek fans who followed the actress not only for her role as Counselor Troi but because she was much more outspoken than the character she portrayed on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Sirtis didn’t hold her tongue when it came to…well, anything, and that is just another reason why fans love her.

Will Marina Sirtis turn up on another social media platform that allows instant connection?

Twitter has been around since 2006 and has about 240 million active monthly users, according to Time. Given its popularity, it might be difficult to find a similar platform, but in the same Time article, it offers some alternatives, including Mastodon. Users have described this platform as similar to Twitter, but it isn’t ad-supported which may make it a better experience. Also, 500 characters are allowed which gives users a bit more leeway when expressing their opinions.

As for whether or not Sirtis will turn up on another social media platform, we don’t know. She didn’t indicate whether she intended to switch, or, if she did, she deleted her account before everyone saw the notification. At the time of this writing, there was no additional information available. We’ll just have to wait to see if the actress makes a comeback on another platform.
