What three episodes from Star Trek in 2022 do we recommend?

Star Trek had a big year in 2022. They had five different show air episodes with Prodigy bookending the year, and in between getting new installments from Discovery, Picard, and Lower Decks, while also debuting Strange New Worlds to rave reviews.

Not every show was created equally and some shows earned far more praise than others, namely Strange New Worlds, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t gems and highlights from across the Trek universe from the year that was 2022.

So we found three episodes from three of the series that best represent what each show had to offer. Your list may differ from ours and that’s ok.

Three of our favorite episodes from Star Trek in 2022

Prodigy: Kobayashi

Barely making the cut was Prodigy’s “Kobayashi”, which featured Del R’El taking the Kobayashi Maru test, a test he fails in spectacular fashion time and time again. He was flanked by holograms of some of the most legendary Starfleet officers, like Uhura, Spock, and Scotty, and while they couldn’t help him get the victory, the lessons he learned would pay off in the season finale.

Strange New Worlds: Memento Mori

In Strange New World’s “Memento Mori”, we get a real taste of how aggressive and vile the Gorn can truly be, having savagely ripped apart an outpost, leaving no doubt they are not to be trifled with. The episode culminates in a pretty fantastic submarine battle in space and proves to more skeptical Star Trek fans that the Nu Trek concept can work when done right.

Lower Decks: Hear All, Trust Nothing

Lastly, we get Lower Deck’s salute to Deep Space Nine in “Hear All, Trust Nothing”.  While it did leave a little to desire, seeing the likes of Quark and Kira Nerys one more time is not something to ever scoff off. We lose legendary talent every day it feels like, so appreciating them while we can is so important.
