Star Trek: Picard featured a Star Trek: Voyager cameo complete with questions.

Star Trek: Picard has gone out of its way to bring back a who’s who of returning characters and cameo roles. Of course, there’s the core cast of The Next Generation, Seven of Nine from Voyager, the actual ship Voyager, the Enterprise-A, and the corpse of James T. Kirk.

There’s been Genesis Devices, Guinan, Q, Wesley Crusher and so many other stars and items from Star Trek’s past, it’s getting a bit obnoxious, if we’re being truthful. The show is littered with callbacks, to the point, it feels like the entire show is just a whole bush of “Memberberries”.

So it was a bit refreshing to see the latest cameo in Picard’s seventh episode of season three, “Dominion”. During the events of the episode, Seven of Nine comes in contact with her former Voyager colleague; Tuvok. Tuvok is now the captain of his own ship, a ship that is looking for the Titan-A.

After some teleconferencing, Seven of Nine figured out that Tuvok wasn’t Tuvok but a Changeling (shock, gasp, stunned silence), and deduced that Tuvok must still be alive, simply due to the information extracted from him. That doesn’t mean he is, however, Picard is gearing up to kill off a bunch of characters, so why not Tuvok?

Star Trek: Picard’s use of Tuvok opens up some questions

So, the arrival of Tuvok has opened up some questions. One, how did the Changelings capture him and his ship? Two, is he still alive? Icheb didn’t exactly have a fun final scene in the show, so why would we expect Tuvok to be spared?

So far the show really is killing off Voyager staples; The Borg Queen, Icheb, Seven of Nine’s cool Voyager outfits, and maybe now Tuvok?

Lastly, who else is coming in and from where? We have heroes from Voyager and the Next Generation, while villains from Deep Space Nine. This doesn’t feel like we’re anywhere close to the end with the cavalcade of character returns.
