Star Trek: Picard is ending its third and final season with a bang.

While some fans say they don’t want to see more legacy characters in Star Trek. That certainly isn’t the case for the millions of fans who’ve been tuning into the final season of Star Trek: Picard as the series made its debut on the Nielsen streaming charts for the week of March 6-12, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The series finished ninth in the rankings among original series with a whopping 310 million minutes of viewing midway through its final season run. And Picard is only the second Paramount+ series to make the Nielsen streaming charts, with1923 appearing two weeks prior.

It’s clear viewers are tuning in for Star Trek: Picard and the Star Trek: The Next Generation reunion.

Seasons one and two of Picard might not have been everyone’s cup of tea, but this season, which has brought back some fan favorites from Star Trek: The Next Generation as well as Star Trek: Voyager, has proven to be a hit. And for those that say Trek is relying on nostalgia to keep it going, well, that seems to be working out quite well for Paramount+.

And if Paramount+ is smart about this, it will allow these streaming numbers to guide the way for current and future series. As much as some may ask for series that only involve new characters, it’s quite clear that there are plenty of fans that are perfectly content watching legacy characters return to their screens. Add to that the petition for a spin-off Star Trek: Legacy series, and there’s little doubt that such a show would have a ready-made audience.
