Star Trek: Picard’s 9th episode of season 3 lands in the Top 10 show among streamers.

Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t teach old dogs new tricks. Star Trek: Picard has not had the best reputation since it launched. The series’ first and second seasons were not well regarded, and with the exception of Star Trek: Discovery, no other Trek series ranks as low as it on the fan side of Rotten Tomatoes.

And while the series as a whole isn’t great, the third season allowed the show to finish strong, with fans loving the reunion feeling of the show. The third season also appealed to more casual Star Trek fans, as the show somehow made it into the Top 10 streaming shows to close out its run.

Well, technically, it was the show’s penultimate episode that ranked in the Top 10. Nielsen posted their streaming numbers for April 10-16, and it revealed that Star Trek: Picard landed in the Top 10 of all original streaming shows. The service counts minutes watched and Picard had 276 million minutes watched over that time period. Assuming that a fan watched the newest episode just once, that’s about 6.5 million people who watched the second to last episode of Picard.

Star Trek: Picard will likely stay in the Top 10 next week

Considering how well the 29th episode did in the Nielsen streaming ratings, it’ll be interesting to see how the series finale does. We could see the final episode hit 300 million minutes watched, which would put the number of people around 10 million or so.

Assuming that’s the case, then Picard will have ended its run better than many shows start. It’s a strong sign for the Star Trek brand going forward, especially with Strange New Worlds set to premiere its second season on June 5 of this very year.
