The 5 Star Trek episodes to bring if you were on a deserted island
By Chad Porto
Here are our five Star Trek episodes to watch on a deserted island.
The concept of the deserted island game is well-known, for the most part. You can pick several items of a specific genre to bring with you to the deserted island in case of a shipwreck, plane crash, etc. The idea is that whatever it is you need to view these materials, lights for books, televisions, and DVD players (plus electricity) for movies, and the like, will all be available to you, but the things you bring with you and only those things may be included in the game.
Well, I decided to play that game with Star Trek and change up the rules a bit. Instead of your favorites, you should only pick episodes that can either make you laugh, to raise morale. Make you think, so you can find a way off the island, or give you hope so you don’t just give up.
The only other rule is that we could only pick one episode from a season. So, with that these are the five episodes we would recommend you bring to a deserted island.
Five Star Trek episodes to watch on a deserted island
Enterprise- Shuttlepod One
The episode centers around Malcolm Reed and Charles “Trip” Tucker who fear the worst after they believe the Enterprise NX was destroyed while they were away. With only 10 days of air left, and in desperate need to find a place to dock, the duo has to navigate metaphorical choppy waters until they can find salvation.
The Original Series – Shore Leave
The crew of the Enterprise unwittingly go to an extreme amusement park of sorts, where everyone’s deepest fantasies come to life, some with unintended consequences.
The Next Generation – Captain’s Holiday
Can Jean-Luc Picard find peace and quiet on Risa? Apparently not, as Picard is forced to deal with nonsense and shenanigans during his attempt to get some seaside sun.
Deep Space Nine – Take Me Out to the Holosuite
Despite the war, the crew of Deep Space Nine proposes a friendly game of baseball against a team of Vulcans. Even those the Vulcans out-match the DS9 crew physically, Sisko must rally the team and find a way to still have fun.
Voyager – Good Shepherd
Kathryne Janeway takes a trio of Voyaer crewmembers out on their first away mission, only to find themselves stuck and afloat in space, while being chased by some unknown, dark matter, entity.
