Star Trek: Strange New Worlds may bring in Carol Marcus for season two.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is bringing in a few characters this season, some new, and others in new roles. We know that Carol Kane will be joining the show as the Enterprise’s new chief engineer. We also know that James Kirk will be a younger version of the character we saw in season one, currently a first officer and a lieutenant. And it’s the connection to Kirk that may also bring in Carol Marcus.

Speaking to SFX Magazine, co-showrunner Akiva Goldsman revealed that when we see Kirk in season two, it’ll be during a point in his life where he’s engaging in a romantic relationship with Carol Marcus. This may be the end of the relationship, or somewhere in the early stages, as it appears so though Kirk and La’an Noonien Singh have a thing for one another.

This would set up the perfect opportunity to add Carol to the story and create a bit of a romantic triangle of sorts. The only question is, should Carol Marcus make her debut?

Should we get Carol Marcus in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds bringing in Carol Marcus would certainly try something relatively new to Star Trek. While the show has always had romances, they’ve rarely had romantic triangles for fans to engage in.

There have been some, I’m sure, but the closest that I can think of wasn’t even a romantic triangle, as it was just two different sides of the Enterprise fandom wondering how T’Pol would eventually end up with. For me, I’m still all about the Archer and T’Pol of it all.

Bringing in Marcus is a good idea, as it’ll give the writers something juicy to further explore in one of their best new shows of the current generation.
