Star Trek: Prodigy has been canceled, but fans know that doesn’t mean things are over.

Star Trek: Prodigy has been canceled by Paramount and is being shopped around for its new home. Not only has it been canceled but the show will be pulled from Paramount+ within a week, making its time on the service nothing more than a memory.  It was a successful show, as it helped the franchise trend upward heading into Picard.

It even scored better in its second half than Lower Decks did. Yet, it was canceled. Despite its cancelation, however, Star Trek: Prodigy can still be saved. The show’s second season is very nearly complete, and while it won’t air on Paramount+, it can air elsewhere, and that appears to be the hope here.

Paramount+ took a tax credit that would have made the service more money than keeping the show, so the new idea is to shop it around and have someone else take on the bulk of the expenses assuming they get any more new seasons beyond the second. The thought process is that they’ll likely get a cut from any new seasons due to it being owned by Paramount, while also getting the tax credit for canceling it.

But if you’re sad to see it go, you can help save it by proving to new homes that it’s worth their time.

How can you help save Star Trek: Prodigy?

Star Trek: Prodigy co-producer Aaron Waltke highlighted several ways that Trek fans can continue to support Prodigy via his Twitter account, and hopefully get it to land on another network or streaming service. In a multi-tweet explanation, Waltke highlighted the ways how you can help save the show;

"Keep it positive and keep it up. Now is the time to do it. Let them see an eager and active fanbase who will follow the show wherever it goes. Watch the entire show to completion while it’s still up! A view is a view — and numbers do matter.The hashtags #StarTrekProdigy and #SaveStarTrekProdigy fan campaigns are wonderful. The efforts to keep it visible are also meaningful as it is shopped around. Here are some social media profiles, shared by @StarfleetDesignVoting with your wallet is also a great option. You can purchase the BluRay or DVD for the first 10 episodes, with more on the way. They are selling out quickly! You can also purchase them digitally on the Apple Store, Amazon Prime, etc.I also highly recommend picking up the#StarTrekProdigy toys! If they are successful, more could follow. And they are also going fast as possible collectors items!Consider buying someStar Trek merchandise from the official Star Trek shop. Fashionable and it makes a point!We are in uncharted territory… But it’s worth noting not that long ago, shows like Futurama and The Orville found new homes by DVD sales, fan engagement and viewership on demand. Quite frankly, there is a whole new audience out there waiting to discover #StarTrekProdigy!I should also mention that the video game, “Star Trek: Supernova” and the books that are being released also count as great Prodigy merch to pick up Star Trek Prodigy: Supernova – Nintendo Switch"

While Waltke’s tips are nothing more than “buy and watch” those two things do go a long way in perspective channels and streaming services being interested in a product. If they know it has a loyal fanbase, it’ll be worth the money. Well, at least that used to be the way it went.

Now, with the strike, and these tax credits, the whole game has changed.
