Star Trek: Voyager gets a lot of love in the recent first look at Star Trek: Prodigy.

We don’t know the future of Star Trek: Prodigy. It’s still being made despite it not having a home to air on, and while Star Trek.com is promoting it, the streaming service Paramount+ has removed it from its archives. It’s a great show that has found itself in a messy situation due to greedy execs.

That doesn’t mean that Prodigy is done, however. It’ll air its second season somehow, in some form. Our money is straight to DVD, but who knows if that’s the case. This could go on for a while, and someone surprising may get in on broadcasting the show.

We hope that they do because it’s a great show and the showrunners behind the project are letting fans know that when Prodigy comes back, so too does Star Trek: Voyager.

Star Trek: Prodigy is diving deep into the world of Star Trek: Voyager

As mentioned before on our site, the show is already bringing back The Doctor, the Emergency Command Hologram from Voyager. And long-time fans will know that the Doctor is once again played by Robert Picardo. His arrival on the show’s first look highlights a long-standing idea of Prodigy serving as a sequel series to Voyager.

And that idea seems to hold water, especially now, because this show is going even deeper into the Voyager lore.

While the show had the kids o The Protostar in Season 1, in Season two, the kids will be on a new ship. The NCC-74656-1, aka the Voyager II.

The Voyager ship coming back was a surprise, but it shouldn’t be. The end of season one saw Admiral Kathryn Janeway telling the kids about a new Protostar class ship, but that it wasn’t the ship she’d be using to help train them. Claiming she had bigger plans for them.

Well, while not literally bigger, the concept sure is, as she’ll be teaching the kids of the first Protostar how to be members of Starfleet on the new Voyager ship.
