Kate Mulgrew, who portrays the unwavering Admiral Kathryn Janeway, on Star Trek: Prodigy, is as excited about season two as the fans are.

Kate Mulgrew has been largely silent about things going on in the Star Trek world due to SAG-AFTRA strike rules, but with Star Trek: Prodigy finding a new home at Netflix, the actress did address the fans of the series.

In a post that has been liked over 7,000 times, Mulgrew especially acknowledged the aerial campaign fans paid for that resulted in a #SaveStarTrekProdigy banner being flown over Netflix’s headquarters.

Kate Mulgrew also shared a quote about the Star Trek fan base.

She called the Star Trek fan base among the strongest and most intelligent in the world. And she hasn’t been the only one who has commended the fans. Executive Producer Aaron Waltke released a statement on behalf of the entire cast and crew along with the creators of Prodigy that thanked the fans for their support. And Alex Kurtzman credited the fans for saving the show.

Comments from those behind-the scenes and the actors bringing the characters to life are one of the many reasons why Star Trek fans are so dedicated. With shows like Prodigy, fans have been involved from the beginning, actively encouraging others to watch the series and tuning in to every new episode released. So when the cancellation of the series came in April, it’s no surprise that the fans rallied to save it.

And now, Star Trek: Discovery fans are asking if their favorite series can be saved, too, based on the success of Prodigy. A current petition for Discovery, that was started in March of this year, has close to 5,000 signatures. But there’s been no indication from the powers that be that Paramount is even considering a Discovery renewal at this time.

One thing is for sure, the old adage “the squeaky wheel gets the grease,” has defintely been true for Prodigy as the fans couldn’t have been louder or more determined to save the freshman series.

Next. Star Trek: Prodigy will be joining Netflix. dark
