It looks like Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will be starting production if not this month then definitely next.

Now that the SAG-AFTRA strike is over, productions are resuming, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is gearing up to start, with producing director, Chris Fisher, posting on Instagram over the weekend that he was heading to Toronto, where the series films, in three days. Previously, Fisher had told Trekmovie that production had only been one day away from flying the actors in before the strike was announced.

And it looks like he’s not the only one on their way to Canada as series star Jess Bush posted an Instagram story saying that she was subletting her flat in Australia for six months before asking if anyone had a covered parking spot in Toronto that she could rent.

We could potentially see new Star Trek: Strange New Worlds in 2024

Trekmovie reported that, according to a listing at the Directors Guild of Canada, pre-production of Strange New Worlds (under the production name of “Lily & Isaac”) had resumed and production was set to start on December 11th and run through July 2024.

Of course, there’s a lot of work to be done after filming is complete so there is no guarantee we’ll see a new episode of the series in 2024, but it’s a possibility. And I’m betting that the studio will do everything in its power to make sure that happens to keep viewer interest from drifting away.

While I don’t see that as that big of a possibility, Paramount+ is all about the numbers so I’m sure there will be some urgency on that end to keep the ball rolling as fast as it can. Even if only one or two episodes drop in late December 2024, it will be better than going an entire year without seeing a new episode at all.
