Given the generally harsh fan and critical reaction to Star Trek: Section 31, it remains to be seen if Michelle Yeoh will be called upon to reprise her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou in a sequel. But the Oscar-winning actress, who just wrapped an extensive promo tour on behalf of Section 31 and served as one of its executive producers, is not lacking for upcoming projects.
Yeoh can currently be seen on screen and at home, now that it’s available for streaming, in Wicked. She will return as Madame Morrible, the duplicitous headmistress of Craig Hall at Shiz University, in the much-anticipated sequel, Wicked: For Good. The musical fantasy will be released on November 21, 2025.
The actress has also lent her voice to the ongoing animated sci-fi/fantasy show, Ark: The Animated Series, which streams on Paramount+. Six episodes aired in 2024 and at least as many episodes will premiere later this year. The voice cast includes Madeleine Madden, Gerard Butler, David Tenant, Jeffrey Wright, and Yeoh as a Chinese rebel leader named Meiyin Li. Star Trek fans should also note that Karl Urban, who plays Dr. McCoy in the Kelvin timeline Star Trek films produced by J.J. Abrams, voices an American Army Ranger named Bob.
And then there’s Blade Runner 2099, a television series that takes place 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, the Blade Runner sequel film that was released in 2017. It’s been revealed that Yeoh plays Olwen, a dying Replicant. Co-stars include Hunter Schafer, Tom Burke, Katelyn Rose Downey, and Lewis Gribben. Amazon Prime Video will premiere Blade Runner 2099 later this year.
Finally, while they are a long, long way off from theatrical release, Yeoh will co-star in Avatar 4 and Avatar 5, which will be released in December 2029 and December 2031, respectively. Yeoh will appear in James Cameron’s sci-fi sequels as Dr. Karina Mogue. Cameron recently confirmed that Yeoh does not appear in the third film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, set to open on December 19, 2025. Anyone seeking a Star Trek connection to Avatar: Fire and Ash will have to settle for Zoe Saldana, who will return as Neytiri in Fire and Ash.
