Ian is one of FanSided's contributors to Redshirts Always Die. He has covered the entertainment industry for more than 30 years, writing for New York Times Syndicate, TV Guide, The A.V. Club, Reader's Digest, and Chicago Tribune, as well as such genre outlets Starlog, Sci-Fi Wire, and the official magazines for Star Trek, Charmed, Buffy/Angel, Smallville, Star Wars, and more. He also served as the editor of StarTrek.com, the official Star Trek site, from 2010-2019, co-authored the book Star Trek: The Original Series -- A Celebration, and even appeared as an extra in episodes of Deep Space Nine and Voyager. Ian also played a demon who's blown to bits by his demon master in an episode of Charmed. The role involved a line of dialogue -- "Are you alright?" -- and as a result he still earns about $100 a year in residuals, though some checks can be for as little as 2 cents.
