Arguably the best Star Trek show of the Nu Trek era is a hit on Netflix, as the streaming service has just released the first season of the show on the streaming service. The show is climbingg the ranks on the service as new fans are reliving the joy of the show that many of us got to enjoy during 2021 and 2022.

The second season was supposed to be out in 2023 but it was delayed due to Prodigy being cancelled and Netflix picking it up. We're not sure when the second season is supposed to start airing but we it should be sometime in 2024, probably around the summertime if we had to guess.

And with the show climbing the charts on Netflix, we thought it'd be a nice time to look back and check out three of the show's lingering plot lines for the second season.

Where (and when) is Captain Chakotay

The ship that the kids used in season one of Prodigy was the Protostar, a ship used by Captain Chakotay, famed friend of Admiral Kathryne Janeway. The admiral spent most of the first season looking for the ship, its captain, and answers to what happened to them. Along the way, we found out that Chakotay was still missing in another part of the timeline and most of season two may be to help bring him back home.

How will the crew handle the death of Hologram Janeway

The crew was very tight with the Holo-Janeway that they met on the Protostar. She was an Emergency Command Hologram and looked after the kids tremendously. So much so that despite being a program, the crew saw her as their captain. So when the hologram sacrificed herself to save the kids, the loss was felt in the young crew. And now that the crew will serve under the real Admiral Janeway, it's likely that there are some issues the youngsters will have to work through. After all, Admiral Janeway isn't her hologram self and while she looks and sounds like her, the kids and the Admiral have no prior relationship; at least not on the level that they had with the hologram. So there are going to be growing pains as the two sides learn to trust one another.

What is happening with Gwyndala

The crew of the Protostar said goodbye to Gwyndala at the end of season one as she went back to her home planet in order to help avert certain doom from befalling them. Yet, we're not sure what's going on with her and if she's been able to help steady her home planet from a total self-inflicted implosion, much like we saw happen to them in her father's timeline.
