Star Trek fans should brace themselves for a big October
By Chad Porto
October is known for many things. It's fall in full swing, we have Halloween at the end of the month and who could dismiss the cold cracking shoulder pads that ring out from high school football fields? It's a month filled with many wonderful and interesting seasonal treats. Which, shockingly, may include Star Trek.
As it stands, October is going to be a big month for the Star Trek franchise. October is of course home to the annual New York Comic Con event, which serves as a fall-cousin of sorts to the more popular summertime event, the San Diego Comic Con event.
Last year the event, Star Trek announced its partnership with Kid Cudi, as well as some other tidbits for fans to sink their teeth into. With the end of Star Trek: Lower Decks right around the corner, October could prove once again a very noteworthy month for the franchise.
The Javits Convention Center in New York City, NY will be home for Trek days before Lower Decks debuts on Paramount+ for the last time. On Oct. 19, 2024, fans will flock to the event to see promotion and potential panels featuring the cast and crew of Lower Decks and potentially Section 31.
Lower Decks debuts its final season on Oct. 24, just days after the event, while Section 31 will be released in early 2025, just a few months after the event. It stands to reason that Section 31 will get a formal release date at the NYCC.
More "surprises" are expected at the event, though we'd be surprised if it was any major announcements or spoilers. We may get a few interviews but Paramount has proven that if it's going to reveal something groundbreaking, they're either going to surprise the fandom on a random day or wait until the San Diego Comic-Con.
Still, we can expect some interesting things from the NYCC. Least among them being another look at the final season of Lower Decks.
