Back in 2021, in just one month, over 1.2 million dollars was raised in an Indiegogo campaign for the production of the Star Trek: Voyager documentary, since named "To the Journey—Looking Back at Star Trek: Voyager." Those who offered financial support like me, simply called backers, have received production updates over the course of the last three years, and this latest one sets an end goal for the final completion of the film.

In a video production update, producer/editor Joseph Kornbrodt said after receiving the "picture lock" next week, they'd turn their attention to post-production, which includes composing and recording the score, adding graphics, and more. The goal date for a completely finished film is October 2024. Of course, that isn't set in stone as there can always be unexpected blips that require extra time.

Trekmovie spoke with the documentary's director, David Zappone, and learned that they are anticipating holding premiere dates for backers in New York, London, and Los Angeles in the first part of November. More details should be revealed at Star Trek Las Vegas in August of this year.

A DVD/Blu-Ray release should be ready in 2025, provided everything goes according to plan, and according to Zappone, will include around two hours of bonus material similar to what was provided on the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine documentary, "What We Left Behind." An official world premiere event will be held once a distributor for the film's theatrical release has been obtained.
