Tickets for the 60th anniversary celebration are now on sale!
Star Trek fans, who plan on celebrating the franchise’s anniversary by going to see select films and TOS episodes on the big screen, now have two more theater chains to choose from.
Cinemark already released their 60th anniversary plans to honor Trek, and now AMC Theatres and Alamo Drafhouse have joined in on the fun. Check out each company’s respective lineups and more information below.
AMC Theatres
Friday, Sept. 4 | “The Changeling” (1967) followed by Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) the director’s edition.
Saturday, Sept. 5 | “Space Seed” (1967) followed by Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) the director's cut.
Sunday, Sept. 6 | “Amok Time” (1967) followed by Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984).
Monday, Sept. 7 | “The City on the Edge of Forever” (1967) followed by Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986).
Tuesday, Sept. 8 | The Khan double feature followed by the time-travel double feature.
Sadly, unless AMC plans to adjust their schedule prior to Star Trek Day, the theater chain will only show “Space Seed,” The Wrath of Khan, “The City on the Edge of Forever,” and The Voyage Home on Sept. 8.
Whereas, instead of simply making a night of it, fans can visit Cinemark for their 60th anniversary celebration, in which the company’s cinemas will show all four double features back to back that same Tuesday.
So, what’s the trade off? After doing a little research, most Cinemark locations will be showing the Star Trek double-feature marathon on regular screens.
Meanwhile, for instance, the AMC Empire 25 in New York City will feature the Khan/time-travel mashup on Laser screens — and don’t forget about their signature Club Rockers recliners. Continued on page 2...
