Theatergoers can also pick up some of Regal’s cool classic Trek collectibles.
Regal Cinemas joins AMC, Cinemark, and Alamo Drafthouse in celebrating the 60th anniversary of Star Trek this fall. And similar to the other venues, the second-largest chain of theaters in the United States has officially announced its own lineup of double features, a day-long marathon, and special merchandise to boldly commemorate six decades of excellence in science fiction movies and television.
Now, the following is the lineup Regal Cinemas will offer Star Trek fans beginning on Friday, Sept. 4.
Friday, Sept. 4 | “The Changeling” (1967) & Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) — director’s edition.
Saturday, Sept. 5 | “Space Seed” (1967) & Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) — director's cut.
Sunday, Sept. 6 | “Amok Time” (1967) & Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984).
Monday, Sept. 7 | “The City on the Edge of Forever” & Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986).
Tuesday, Sept. 8 | The four double-feature screenings shown in an all-day back-to-back marathon
Additionally, Regal Cinemas is offering moviegoers special Star Trek concessions collectibles, which go on sale starting Thursday, Sept. 3, according to the theater chain’s official Instagram account. Trekkies, Trekkers, and all-around television and film fans can check out Regal’s selection of popcorn containers and beverage cups below.
Personally, my favorite of Regal Cinemas concessions collectibles is the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 starship bucket inspired by The Original Series, which includes a large popcorn with each purchase.
Although, my eye was really drawn to the brightly colored gold, blue, and red containers representing the different uniform hues indicating the following Starfleet divisions: command, sciences, and operation respectively.
I checked the Regal Times Square official website in New York City and tickets for the double features are still available. The double features start at 6:30 p.m. ET while the marathon on Star Trek Day (Sept. 8) begins at 11 a.m. with subsequent showtimes beginning at 2:37 p.m., 5:50 p.m. and finally 8:55 p.m.
Yes, tickets to the Regal Cinemas Star Trek marathon are sold separately, at least where the Times Square location is concerned. For more information and to purchase seats at your local theater, please visit Regal’s official website. And for more Star Trek 60 updates, visit us on the Redshirts Always Die Facebook and X pages.
Live long and prosper, Trekkies!
