2. Star Trek: Khan podcast

It says a lot that one of the best Star Trek projects during Alex Kurtzman’s reign isn’t on any type of screen but in podcast form. This nine-episode audio series tackles one of the great untold tales of Trek lore: the exile of Khan Noonien Singh on Ceti Alpha V.
The podcast explored how Khan transformed from the noble leader of his people into the madman of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. The storyline had true surprises revealing Khan’s conflicts, his doomed romance, and unexpected allies.
The framing device set in the future, with Tim Russ as Ensign Tuvok and George Takei as Captain Sulu, enhanced the storyline and led to a powerful ending. Naveen Andrews was magnificent as Khan, showcasing his collapse into madness in a way that drew both sympathy and fear.
This would have been a fantastic live-action show, but it proved how Trek can be just as great in audio as in television or films. The Khan podcast is yet another win for executive producer Alex Kurtzman, which fans should be thankful for, and, hopefully, the series paves the way for more audio dramas to expand the franchise.
