Many Star Trek fans are anticipating the arrival of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, which is set to drop on Paramount+ Jan. 15. The show recently held its blue carpet premiere in New York City, and WWE champion Becky Lynch, fresh off winning the Women's Intercontinental Championship, took to her Instagram to celebrate. "Big Time Becks" also claimed that the upcoming series, which she is a part of, is "the most anticipated TV show of 2026." Lynch posted:

"AMAZING NIGHT!!! What better place to celebrate my WIN than walking the red carpet for the premiere of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy as your new INTERGALACTIC Champion!!! Everyone was in AWE of my outfit, my title, my presence!!! The MOST ANTICIPATED TV show of 2026 hit the BIG TIME!!!"

Lynch has good reason to be excited, considering her upcoming appearance on Starfleet Academy. Her role as Lieutenant Ya, a bridge officer on the USS Athena, is described as an atypical Starfleet officer, and will be in the premiere episode of the series. Lynch's confidence as a champion wrestler will certainly bring an interesting facet to the character.

A growing cast has many fans eager for Starfleet Academy's arrival

While some Star Trek fans are still on the fence about the series, others, like myself, only get more excited by actors in the upcoming show. I'm on board because the cast includes the amazing Tig Notaro, the award-winning Paul Giamatti, and best of all, Robert Picardo reprising his role as The Doctor! Who can resist that?
