The ensemble finally gets a chance to shine
One of Beyond's greatest qualities is its presentation of the Kelvin cast as a real ensemble, not just “Kirk, Spock, and everyone else.” Following the disaster, the crew is broken into pairs of creative partners, Bones and Spock, Kirk and Chekov, Uhura and Sulu, so that everyone has fresh and interesting ways to interact with each other.
