Star Trek Day is finally here, and the greatest science fiction franchise — and fandom, for that matter — is celebrating 60 years of memorable Treks. And one of the most beloved contributors to the television side of the sci-fi saga shared what it all means to him.

“I first fell in love with Star Trek and Shatner and company when I was in college,” Bakula reveals in the video.
For those newer Star Trek fans out there, who might not be aware of his popularity and importance to the sci-fi franchise, Bakula portrayed the commander of the 22nd century's first warp-5 vessel, the Enterprise NX-01, during all four seasons of the television series Enterprise.
And like many other Trekkies and Trekkers out there, I still hope that writer and producer Mike Sussman’s follow-up proposal for the streaming series or TV show Star Trek: United will eventually find favor with the powers that be at CBS Studios and the Paramount Skydance Corporation.
Personally, my favorite part of Bakula’s video, which allowed him to reflect on his love of Star Trek, was when the actor mentioned how he and his fraternity brothers dropped whatever they were doing to watch Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, and the rest of the cast whenever The Original Series aired at midnight.
