Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is now dropping weekly episodes, each Thursday, on Paramount+, and with this youth-centered series already picked up for season 2, we fans have much to look forward to. From up-and-coming new actors to familiar faces like Tig Notaro and Oded Fehr, there's an enjoyable mix of both youthful exuberance and seasoned confidence.

Fehr, in particular, feels fortunate that the show's creators wanted him to reprise his role as Fleet Admiral Charles Vance from Star Trek: Discovery. He recently told TV Insider:

“It was a long time coming. I actually did reach out when I first heard about it and went, ‘Look, this happens, I’m sure Admiral Vance wouldn’t mind being involved. But yeah, I feel very honored and blessed. It means something when a character you’ve portrayed is brought back to another show. It’s a wonderful compliment.”

It's obvious that Fehr feels a great deal for his character so much that he reached out to the show's creators. It's also gratifying for fans to know that these actors care about the characters as much as we viewers do.

If you remember the premiere of Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1987, then you recall that writers brought back a very special character from The Original Series to draw in viewers and bring tears to the eyes of more than a few fans. Admiral Leonard McCoy was portrayed by the late, great DeForest Kelley at 137 years old, walking the halls of the Enterprise-D with Data during the show's pilot, "Encounter at Farpoint."

The series would also eventually bring back Sarek (Mark Lenard), Scotty (James Dohan), and, of course, Ambassador Spock (Leonard Nimoy). And today's actors, including Fehr, carry on this lovely legacy for this generation's Star Trek fans, and beyond.
