Star Trek writer has 'big plans' for Enterprise-G (and is 'amazed' Paramount 'is going to let' him)

“This is THE flagship of Star Trek itself…”

It’s been over three years since the USS Titan-A, under the command of Captain Liam Shaw (Todd Stashwick), made its first appearance in Star Trek: Picard season 3. Later christened the Enterprise-G during the series’ finale, the Federation flagship isn’t being mothballed quite yet. In fact, writer Christopher Cantwell has “big plans” for the vessel in his upcoming comic book series, which is simply titled Star Trek.

And Cantwell is “amazed” Paramount Skydance gave him the greenlight to execute his plans. The writer said in an interview (per SYFY Wire): “This is THE flagship of Star Trek itself, so I want to make sure it comes across right. I will say Dennis [Menheere] is painting the Enterprise beautifully throughout. And I have some big plans for what happens to the ship that I am amazed Paramount is going to let me do. I am excited for fans to experience it.”

For those fans like me who loved seeing Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) being given command of the Enterprise-G in the Picard season 3 episode, “The Last Generation,” the new Star Trek comic book series will definitely be a title to add to your must-read list. Five years have passed since the show ended, but don't worry... Seven is still sitting in the captain’s chair.

Personally, even though the “big plans” are unfolding in comic books, I hope Cantwell isn't going to pull a Search for Spock or Generations and destroy the beloved starship like those films did the Enterprise refit and Enterprise-D respectfully.

What do you think Cantwell has in store for the Enterprise-G that Paramount approved? Do you believe the studio will actually let him destroy the Federation’s flagship under Seven’s command in the new comics?
