LEGO outdid itself with this bold and bricky creation.
Star Trek fans attending this year’s San Diego Comic Con need to make the five-minute walk from the convention center to the Marriott Marquis because this is where the life-size 83,000-piece LEGO captain’s chair is located. And thanks to a collectibles video posted on Trek’s official Instagram account, those who aren’t in America’s Finest City attending the convention can check out the mammoth chair below.
I am stunned by the size and accuracy of the Star Trek-LEGO creation, which is based on Captain James T. Kirk’s chair on the bridge of the USS Enterprise from The Original Series. Look closely and you can even see the red alert indicator on the armchair’s right side. The video also shares a glimpse of LEGO’s USS Enterprise-D, which sells for $399.99.
Additionally, the behind-the-scenes footage shows off the prototype for Nacelle’s epic 12-piece TOS Enterprise bridge that is the ultimate display for the toy company’s 1/10-scale Star Trek figures. My personal favorite, which is on sale now, is the green-shirted Mirror Archer from the Enterprise episode “In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II.”
Fans can also see some cards from Magic the Gathering’s Star Trek edition, which will be available this November, and I even noticed a huge “City on the Edge of Forever” episode card featured in the video. However, I was disappointed, but not surprised, that there wasn’t any footage of The Original Series LEGO Enterprise bridge and transporter room set, which was just officially announced at SDCC.
