The Italian Global Series (IGS) honored the 60th anniversary of Star Trek, and a number of actors were on hand to celebrate the momentous occasion, including three members from Strange New Worlds: Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, and Celia Rose Gooding. And these talented performers, plus a couple more, all walked away with their own personalized Maximo Celebration Prizes (per Variety).

The highly coveted Maximo Award itself, which was established in 2025, singles out excellence in television across the world. In addition to the three representatives from Strange New Worlds, filmmaker Nicholas Meyer — the creative genius behind Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) — was also on hand to serve as the President of the Limited Series Jury for IGS, and he was award a Maximo statue.

Plus, fan-favorite Jeri Ryan, who is best known for portraying Seven of Nine, was also awarded a Maximo while in attendance, and all of those Trek luminaries on hand can be seen posing with their Maximo Celebration Prizes in the photo above.

During this year’s Italian Global Series, the very first public screening for Strange New Worlds season 4 was held, and Romijn said of the extraordinary series while attending the IGS, courtesy of Variety: “I think we’ve tried to embrace what The Original Series did, which is ‘mission of the week,' along with the serialized storylines, throughlines for the characters."

Romijn, who has portrayed Number One, aka Una Chin-Riley, on Strange New Worlds since the first episode, continued by saying: "But there was a sexiness that The Original Series had, that I think we’ve also tried to embrace. The Enterprise is kind of a groovy, sexy ship, you know!” Gooding, who plays Nyota Uhura on SNW, added:

“But there is something I think very interesting about the future of Trek being a little more inward, and the genesis of Trek being much more outwardly exploratory. I think Strange New Worlds has a really wonderful way of finding us right in the middle, where we see how our characters’ inner worlds color their style of exploration.”

I’m thrilled that these Star Trek performers won such a prestigious award, and I can’t wait to see Strange New Worlds season 4 when the show's first episode finally debuts Thursday, July 23, on Paramount+.
