Star Trek: The Original Series season 2 premiered on NBC in 1967 with some powerhouse episodes that fans still enjoy today. So, let's take a look at five entries that we Trekkies should be thankful for on Thanksgiving.

1. "Amok Time"

This episode is likely the powerhouse of the season (if not the series for many fans) because it adds layers to Mr. Spock's backstory and character, creates canon that becomes lore through Vulcan traditions and ceremonies, and establishes Vulcan culture. It's likely also one of the episodes that launched the creation of fanzines and fan fiction, as many viewers became inspired to write their own tales and create art based on this episode.

"Amok Time" is such a popular episode that it's been parodied many times on other shows, the music during Spock and Captain Kirk's battle is many a Trekkie's ringtone, and, of course, it cements the Kirk/Spock dynamic with Spock's delighted cry of "Jim!" when he discovers that his commander and friend is alive and well at the episode's end. Plus, actress Arlene Martel gave us a beautiful yet calculating T'Pring, making this a highly rewatchable episode that fans adore.
